Dr. Thomas Shea has been playing an important role promoting the Iran deal - the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) concluded between Iran and the E3/EU+3 on 14 July 2015 –and attesting to the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) verification and technical capabilities to the US Congress in Washington, D.C.
In a special event, which took place on 27 August 2015, Dr. Shea, a former IAEA inspector, gave a presentation on the JCPOA and his advocacy role. The event, which was held at the Vienna International Centre, was co-sponsored by the Vienna Chapter of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management (INMM) and the Vienna Centre for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP). More than 50 people attended the presentation and participated in a lively discussion afterward which focused largely on the political and legal process in the United States in connection with congressional action on the JCPOA.
